Call for Nominations for Division Secretary and Council Members-at-Large 2013/2014
Chair Benes Z. Aldana has appointed Alfreda Coward to serve as chair of the Division’s Nominating Committee for the FY2013 bar year. The committee members are Stephen Curley, Chauntis Jenkins, Patricia Sexton, and Stephen Williams.
The Nominating Committee will meet during the 2012 Fall Leadership Meeting and National Solo & Small Firm Conference in Seattle, WA, from October 11 to 13 at the Westin Seattle to nominate individuals for the positions of Division Secretary and Members-At-Large of the 2013/2014 Council. The Council Members-At-Large will serve four-year terms. Minority applicants are encouraged. The duties, terms of office, and eligibility requirements for each of the positions to be filled are outlined in the Division bylaws found in the Leadership Portal.

During the Fall Leadership Meeting, each interested individual will have an opportunity to appear in person before the Nominating Committee to discuss his or her qualifications and aspirations. Please note that a personal appearance is not necessary for an individual to be considered by the committee. Further, an appearance before the committee will not entitle one to reimbursement for attendance at the meeting.

Call for Nominations for Council Member-at-Large Vacancy 2012/2013
The 2012/2013 Division Council will elect a new Council Member-At-Large at its 2012 Fall Leadership Meeting in Seattle, WA, on Saturday, October 13, 2012, to fill a vacant seat. No special form of nomination is required, and self-nominations are acceptable. The term to be filled is through the conclusion of the ABA Annual Meeting in August 2015. Nominations must be provided to the Division Secretary, Stephen Rosales, via email at email@example.com or via fax at 312-988-5711 by September 28, 2012.
Any lawyer members who are licensed to practice in any of the states, territories, or possessions of the United States, and who are members of the Association and of the Division, are eligible to nominate themselves for either the Division Secretary, Council Member-At-Large or the Council vacancy position. Associate lawyers, student associates, and law students are not eligible and are excluded from submitting a nomination.
Committee Chairs and members in leadership were invited to participate in the 2012/2013 Leadership Kick-Off Conference Call held on Thursday, August 24. The session provided helpful information and tips to have a successful year. Call for Fall Leadership Meeting Council Agenda Items
The Division Council will meet during the 2012 Fall Leadership Meeting on Saturday, October 13, 2012, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Council members and committee chairs who are interested in submitting an item for the council agenda should submit the item to the Division Office at firstname.lastname@example.org and to their committee’s Division Directors by September 27. Please refer to the Leadership Portal for forms and more information.
Virtual Brown Bag Session
Save the date for the Brown Bag Session on Blogging on October 24! GPSolo’s Virtual Brown Bag Sessions are short, informal educational events on timely GPSolo topics organized by committees and held entirely by teleconference as a Division member benefit at no additional cost. The sessions are held monthly, normally last one hour, and are held during lunch hours. Due to the informal nature of the programs, and the fact that accompanying written materials may not always be prepared and distributed, the Division does not offer continuing legal education credits for these programs.
