On 10/27/10, the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced a final rule, effective 11/26/10, to conform HUD’s regulations to the self-implementing provisions of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) to provide statutory protections for victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking to families receiving rental assistance under HUD’s public housing and tenant-based and project-based Section 8 programs. On 10/27/10, the ATF, DOJ, announced a request for public comment on an extension of a currently approved information collection, Letter to States With Permits That Appear to Qualify as Alternatives to National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) Checks, to ensure that only state permits that meet the statutory requirements contained in the Gun Control Act qualify as alternatives to an NICS check. On 10/27/10, the ATF, DOJ, announced a request for public comment on a proposed information collection, Transactions Among Licensee/Permittees and Transactions Among Licensees and Holders of User Permits, required for use under the Safe Explosives Act. Comments are due 12/26/10. FR66133.
