The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee will mark up S 3817, a bill to amend the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act, the Family Violence Prevention and Services Act, the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment and Adoption Reform Act of 1978 and the Abandoned Infants Assistance Act of 1988 to reauthorize the acts, and for other purposes. 12/1/10, 10 am, 430 Dirksen.

On 11/29/10, the Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), announced a request for public comment on a proposed information collection, Evaluation of Pregnancy Prevention Approaches and Teen Pregnancy Prevention Evaluation, to assess the effectiveness of a range of programs designed to prevent or reduce sexual risk behavior and pregnancy among older adolescents. On 11/26/10, the Office of Justice Programs, Department of Justice (DOJ), announced a request for public comment on a reinstatement, with change, of a previously approved information collection for which approval has expired, State Court Organization 2009, to examine the organizational structure of state courts throughout the country. On 11/26/10, the Rural Utilities Service (RUS), Department of Agriculture, announced a request for public comment on an extension of a currently approved information collection, Electric System Emergency Restoration Plan, which requires that all electric borrowers conduct a Vulnerability and Risk Assessment (VRA) of their respective systems to ensure that the electric infrastructure in rural America is adequately protected. On 11/29/10, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), announced a request for public comment on a final rule to address changes to the physician fee schedule and other Medicare Part B payment policies to ensure that payment systems are updated to reflect changes in medical practice and the relative value of services. On 11/29/10, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), announced a 12/16/10 meeting of the National Advisory Council via teleconference, to discuss and gather feedback on the National Disaster Housing Task Force’s Practitioners’ Guide to Disaster Housing. The Senate Foreign Relations Committee will mark up pending legislation: S 1633, to combat international violence against women and girls; S 1633, to require the secretary of Homeland Security, in consultation with the secretary of State, to establish a program to issue Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Business Travel Cards; S 3798, to authorize appropriations of United States assistance to help eliminate conditions in foreign prisons and other detention facilities that do not meet minimum human standards of health, sanitation and safety, and for other purposes. 11/30/10, 2:15pm, S-116 Capitol.

The Senate Judiciary Committee will mark up S 2888, a bill to amend Section 205 of Title 18, United States Code, to exempt qualifying law school students participating in legal clinics from the application of the general conflict of interest rules under such Section. 12/1/10, 10 am, 226 Dirksen.
