On 7/26/10, the Department of Justice (DOJ) announced a request for public comment on possible revisions to the Department’s regulation implementing Title II of the ADA to address in what manner public entities that operate 911 call-taking centers should be required to make changes in telecommunication technology to reflect developments since the publication of the department’s 1991 regulation and to ensure direct access to 911 services for individuals with disabilities. The BFEs and modified BFEs are the basis for the floodplain management measures that each community is required to adopt in order to qualify or remain qualified for participation in the National Flood Insurance Program.
