On 1/26/10, the Department of Labor announced a request for public comment on a modification to the Employment and Training Administration Form 652, the Job Corps Data Sheet, which currently captures information for a homeless/runaway/foster child in one category. On 1/25/10, the Senate passed S 2949, to amend Section 1113 of the Social Security Act to provide authority for increased fiscal year 2010 payments for temporary assistance to U.S. citizens returned from foreign countries, and to provide necessary funding to avoid shortfalls in the Medicare cost-sharing program for low-income qualifying individuals.

On 1/26/10, the Department of Housing and Urban Development announced a request for public comment on a proposed information collection entitled “Tracking the Use of Homeowner and Small Landlord Disaster Assistance Grants,” which evaluates the role that supplemental Community Development Block Grant Program disaster funding has playing in housing recovery in the states most affected by hurricanes Katrina and Rita – Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas – and identifies the most important factors affecting property owners’ willingness and ability to rebuild or repair their storm-damaged properties. On 1/26/10, the Food and Drug Administration, Department of Health and Human Services, announced a request for public comment on a proposed information collection, the Foreign Letters of Approval for Export of Medical Devices, which collects the approval of the foreign country to which an unapproved medical device is intended for export and allows for the exportation of the device under certain circumstances if the exportation is not contrary to public health and safety. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program Military Service Deferment/Post-Active Duty Student Deferment Request, which serves as the means by which a FFEL, Perkins, or Direct Loan borrower requests a military service deferment and/or post-active duty student deferment and provides his or her loan holder with the information needed to determine whether the borrower meets the applicable deferment eligibility requirements.
