On 1/25/10, the Senate passed S Res 373, designating the month of February 2010 as “National Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month.”
On 1/26/10, the Department of Labor announced a request for public comment on a modification to the Employment and Training Administration Form 652, the Job Corps Data Sheet, which currently captures information for a homeless/runaway/foster child in one category. The modification to this information collection would capture the information for a homeless/runaway/foster child in three separate categories. Comments are due 3/29/10. FR 4107
The House Judiciary Committee will mark up several bills, including HR 569, to amend Titles 28 and 10, United States Code, to allow for certiorari review of certain cases denied relief or review by the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces; H Res 1031, impeaching G. Thomas Porteous Jr., United States District Court Judge for the Eastern District of Louisiana, for high crimes and misdemeanors; and draft legislation, the Bankruptcy Judgeships Act of 2010. 1/27/10, 10:15 am, 2141 Rayburn.
On 1/25/10, the Senate confirmed, by a unanimous vote of 89 yeas, the nomination of Rosanna Malouf Peterson, of Washington, to be United States District Judge for the Eastern District of Washington.
On 1/25/10, the Senate passed S 2950, to extend the pilot program for volunteer groups to obtain criminal history background checks.
The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee will mark up several bills, including H Res 1014, recognizing and supporting the goals and ideals of North American Inclusion Month. 1/27/10, time TBA, 2154 Rayburn.
On 1/25/10, the Senate passed S 2949, to amend Section 1113 of the Social Security Act to provide authority for increased fiscal year 2010 payments for temporary assistance to U.S. citizens returned from foreign countries, and to provide necessary funding to avoid shortfalls in the Medicare cost-sharing program for low-income qualifying individuals.
On 1/26/10, the Election Assistance Commission (EAC) announced 2/8/10-2/19/10 virtual public forums for the EAC Standards Board and the EAC Board of Advisors to review and provide comment on Phase II of the Election Operations Assessment. Access to the forums can be found at http://www.eac.gov

On 1/26/10, the Department of Housing and Urban Development announced a request for public comment on a proposed information collection entitled “Tracking the Use of Homeowner and Small Landlord Disaster Assistance Grants,” which evaluates the role that supplemental Community Development Block Grant Program disaster funding has playing in housing recovery in the states most affected by hurricanes Katrina and Rita – Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas – and identifies the most important factors affecting property owners’ willingness and ability to rebuild or repair their storm-damaged properties. On 1/26/10, the Food and Drug Administration, Department of Health and Human Services, announced a request for public comment on a proposed information collection, the Foreign Letters of Approval for Export of Medical Devices, which collects the approval of the foreign country to which an unapproved medical device is intended for export and allows for the exportation of the device under certain circumstances if the exportation is not contrary to public health and safety. On 1/26/10, the Department of Education announced a request for public comment on a proposed information collection, the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFEL), Federal Perkins Loan Program, and William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program Military Service Deferment/Post-Active Duty Student Deferment Request, which serves as the means by which a FFEL, Perkins, or Direct Loan borrower requests a military service deferment and/or post-active duty student deferment and provides his or her loan holder with the information needed to determine whether the borrower meets the applicable deferment eligibility requirements. On 1/26/10, the Defense Health Board, Department of Defense, announced a 2/11/10 meeting in Norfolk, VA, of the Taskforce on the Prevention of Suicide by Members of the Armed Forces to gather information pertaining to suicide and suicide prevention programs for members of the Armed Services. On 1/26/10, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Department of Homeland Security, announced a final rule identifying communities, where the sale of flood insurance has been authorized under the National Flood Insurance Program, that are scheduled for suspension on the effective dates listed within the rule because of noncompliance with the floodplain management requirements of the program.
