On 2/22/10, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), announced a request for public comment on a proposed revision to an information collection, the Cross-Site Evaluation of the Garrett Lee Smith Memorial Suicide Prevention and Early Intervention Programs, which will, among other things, conduct case studies of four exemplary campus suicide prevention programs in order to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the integration of community-based behavioral health services with services provided by college or university campuses. On 2/22/10, HHS announced a 4/1/10 online meeting of the Secretary’s Advisory Committee on National Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Objectives for 2020 to review the work and recommendations of the Subcommittees on Priorities, Social Determinants of Health, Implementation, Evidence-Based Resources, Strategic Health Communication, and Data and Health Information Technology. On 2/22/10, the Indian Health Service, HHS, announced competing continuations for the 4-in-1 Title V grants to increase the number of American Indian/Alaska Natives with awareness of their HIV status, providing routine and rapid HIV screening, prevention, and pre- and post-test counseling, when appropriate. On 2/22/10, the Department of Housing and Urban Development announced a 3/9/10-3/10/10 meeting in Scottsdale, AZ, of the Negotiated Rulemaking Committee, established pursuant to the Native American Housing Assistance and Self-Determination Reauthorization Act of 2008. The committee will discuss protocols, timeframes, and the scope of the rulemaking process, as well as the setting of future meetings. FR 7559

On 2/22/10, the Social Security Administration (SSA) announced a final rule clarifying that, for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) purposes, SSA does not consider any combat-related military pay as income when determining whether spouses and children of members of the uniformed services are eligible for SSI. The final rule also provides that, in determining whether spouses and children are eligible for SSI, SSA does not consider retroactive payments of certain military pay as resources for nine months following receipt. On 2/22/10, the Department of Veterans Affairs announced a request for public comment on a new system of records entitled “Veterans Health Administration Leadership and Workforce Development,” which stores data gathered from the Canteen Service, Veterans Health Administration Central Office, Veterans Integrated Service Networks, and facility coordinators.
