Presidential Action
On 3/9/09, the president issued an executive order lifting restrictions on federal funding for embryonic stem cell research and directing the National Institutes of Health to issue a new guidance within 120 days on requests for such funding. The president also issued a presidential memorandum directing the head of the White House Office of Science and Technology to develop a strategy for restoring integrity to government decision-making.
