The Senate Judiciary Committee will mark up the following pending legislation: S 1738, to establish a special counsel for Child Exploitation Prevention and Interdiction within the Office of the Deputy Attorney General, to improve the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, to increase resources for regional computer forensic labs and to make other improvements to increase the ability law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute predators; S 2756, to amend the National Child Protection Act of 1993 to establish a permanent background check system; and S 2983, to amend the Runaway and Homeless Youth Act to authorize appropriations. 5/15/08, 10 am, 226 Dirksen.
The Senate Judiciary Committee will mark up S 1515, to establish a domestic violence volunteer attorney network to represent domestic violence victims. 5/15/08, 10 am, 226 Dirksen. On 5/25/07, then ABA Governmental Affairs Acting Director Denise A. Cardman sent a letter in support of the legislation.
