The Criminal Justice Section's Committee on Women in Criminal Justice will be sponsoring a luncheon on July 7, 2000, during the ABA Annual Meeting in New York, featuring Whitewater defendant Susan McDougal. Ms. McDougal, incarcerated as a result of her refusal to testify in front the grand jury convened by former Independent Counsel Kenneth Starr, has received the1998 Profiles in Courage Award from the California Criminal Defense Bar, and the 1999 Eleanor Roosevelt Award from the Americans for Democratic Action. Since her release, Ms. McDougal has been an active advocate for issues concerning the treatment of incarcerated women.
The luncheon will be held from 12:00 - 3:00 p.m. in the Act IV Room of the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 1605 Broadway, New York, NY. Tickets are $35.00 per person, and must be reserved no later than June 23, 2000.
