Pssst…Invest in this!
Want an investment tip? We promise it’s a sure thing—not a stock or a bond or a hot new start-up. We’re asking you to invest in law students.
- We’re looking for lawyers who can spare an hour to talk with students about choosing a career path.
- We’re seeking lawyers to speak during 1L orientations at law schools in their communities.
- We’re asking lawyers with connections to solicit prominent speakers for on-campus programs.
- We’re inviting lawyers or law firms to sponsor student memberships.
Many members have already jumped on this investment bandwagon. Arizona State Delegate Patricia Lee Refo solicited dozens of lawyers to speak at 2010 orientation sessions. Illinois State Delegate Robert A. Clifford sponsored nearly 450 student memberships. Board member Mary Smith brought Tony West, head of the Civil Division at the U.S. Department of Justice, to the University of Chicago Law School. (See related story.) And, 50 lawyers are meeting with students in upcoming months to discuss career options.
Law students are the future of the legal profession, and you have a stake in that future. Become an active stakeholder. Make an investment and give future practitioners a chance to build their professional networks.Take action today by contacting ABA Membership staff members Jill Werner at firstname.lastname@example.org or Tami Behland at email@example.com
