If your plans allow it, be sure to attend the American Bar Association’s Annual Meeting, August 5-10 in San Francisco. This is the one real opportunity each year for networking and interaction with our sister sections. The toughest part about ABA Annual is fitting everything in.
For the Law Practice Management Section, this year’s Annual Meeting is full of special events and emotional moments. The Samuel S. Smith Award Reception on August 6th promises to be bittersweet, as the honor is posthumously bestowed upon Ed Flitton, our beloved budget officer, who passed away unexpectedly in March. Ed was an active leader in the ABA, but more importantly a pioneer in law practice management.
We celebrate the 20th anniversary of our Section’s ABA Women Rainmakers with a reception on August 5th, a great precursor to their Mid-Career Workshop taking place October 22-24 in Washington, DC. Our Section events also include an authentic Chinatown banquet experience on August 6th. We’ll have our full slate of business meetings, as we get ready to kick-off the next bar year. And like many Sections, some powerful CLE programming on our organization’s big stage.
LPM continues to provide a non-stop stream of resources with programs, publications and all the tools necessary to keep up-to-date. Our leadership, and the ABA as a whole, never loses sight of the need to deliver value.
Have a great summer, and we hope to see you by the Bay.
