Dear LPM Members:
As the calendar turns on another successful bar year, we are pleased at the progress and accomplishments of the ABA Law Practice Management Section (LPM). Our leadership’s commitment to continuity has allowed LPM’s own strategic planning to move forward in a manner that rewards our loyal members with the highest level of programs and services possible.
Our ABA LPM staff continues to get stronger with additions and promotions. Section Director Pamela McDevitt arrived in March, and has quickly infused new energy into us all. Mary Beth Thede was recently promoted from “Marketing Assistant” to “Membership Associate”. It is always exciting to see growth and promotion from within.
The past year provided many highlights, including the second biannual ABA Law Firm Marketing Strategies Conference and the 24th edition of ABA TECHSHOW. The book publishing unit presented powerful and timely titles in areas including law firm management and online research. The Law Practice magazine and Law Practice Today webzine are must-reads for all of our members. A further infusion of new ideas came from appointments to many boards through our Young Lawyers Division initiative.
Just around the corner, our New Year arrives with the third biannual ABA Women Rainmakers Mid-Career Workshop, tied in with the LPM Fall Meeting in Washington, DC. Planning is already well underway for the silver anniversary year of ABA TECHSHOW and a fantastic spring meeting in Palm Springs, California in May. It promises to be a fun and rewarding year to be active in LPM. We hope that if you are interested in volunteering or getting further involved, you let a member of our Executive Committee or staff know.
Thank you to all of our members, and especially our active contributors, for continuing to make LPM a great Section and resource in the ABA. We welcome your input and participation at an upcoming meeting or conference. We hope your summer was a great one, and the year ahead is successful.
