Register Today for the LPM Section Spring meeting in Santa Fa, New Mexico!

Spring Meeting 2008

 From May 15-17, 2008, the Law Practice Management Section will hold its annual Spring Meeting in beautiful Santa Fe, New Mexico.  Come to the newly-updated all-suite Hotel Santa Fe to catch up with colleagues while planning programs and events, and contributing to the dialogue used to generate future LPM meetings, educational sessions, publications and events.

 
Meeting highlights include:
 
  • A special program on " Living a Life in the Law ," on Thursday, May 15 from 3:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.  
  • The LPM Gathering Reception, to be held downtown at the Sante Fe Museum of Art with live Native American entertainment from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
  • A closing sunset dinner with breathtaking views of the mountains surrounding Museum Hill on Saturday, May 17 from 6:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Transportation will be included for both offsite events.

Registration is now open for the Women Rainmakers Mid-Career Workshop

Women RainmakersAn Interactive forum developed to give valuable insight and enhance the performance of the mid-career women laywer.  In conjunction with the LPM Section Fall Meeting to be held October 16-18, 2008 in Tucson, Arizona, the ABA Women Rainmakers Mid-Career Workshop will take place on October 17-19, 2008.  This workshop will allow participants to network with other successful attorneys, engage in focused topical discussions with knowledgeable legal professionals and learn how to utlize tools to help assess the participant's career, client relationships, and personal lifestlye requirements in order to maximize rainmaking capabilities.  This year the workshop will offer Solo/Small Firm and Large Firm tracks.

Topics Include:

  • Rainmaking / business development
  • Client relationship management
  • Gender boundary issues
  • Strategic planning / goal setting
  • Negotiation skills and strategy
  • Marketing your firm

On or before August 1, 2008, the standard rate is $595 and LPM member rate is $495; after August 1, 2008, the standard rate is $695 and the LPM member rate is $595.

This session is open to all legal professionals who are, support and/or work with successful women attorneys.

Young Lawyers Leadership Development Program

  As part of its continuing efforts to reach out to young lawyers, the ABA LPM Section offers a Leadership Development Program to attract and mentor future leaders of the Section. Imagine the opportunities to meet and network with some of the country's foremost experts on topics related to the business of practicing law -- marketing, management, technology, and finance -- as well as career and work/life balance issues.

Section leaders choose at least two candidates each year to serve two-year terms. The appointees will have the opportunity to attend Section meetings and serve on important committees which affect the strategic direction of the Section and its service to members. LPM holds quarterly Section meetings, including at the ABA Annual and Midyear meetings, and offers a generous reimbursementolicy. The application  deadline for the 2008-2009 bar year is June 2008!  For more information and to apply, visit  www.lawpractice.org/yl .
