Technology & Practice Guide
You may be asking yourself, "How am I going to transfer all of my appointments, telephone numbers, and information into the program I select?" The answer lies in an ancient Taoist saying: "A thousand mile journey begins with one step." The information goes in one number at a time, week by week. Make a concerted effort to clear old information off your calendar, and to enter new information as it crosses your desk. It does not take any longer to enter a number into your PIM than it does to rummage through the papers on your desk to find pen and paper. If you keep at it, within a few weeks you will have 70 to 80 percent of the information you need stored in your PIM.
Also, do yourself a big favor: Once you spend weeks cramming your information into a PIM, make certain you create at least two backup copies of your PIM data file (on separate floppy disks).
