3 Bars Win ABA Diversity Awards
The Memphis Bar, State Bar of Texas, and State Bar of Arizona have won this year's ABA Partnership Awards for diversity programs. The winners will be recognized at the NABE/NCBP/NCBF Joint Awards Luncheon in Chicago in July.
Conference to Spotlight Disabled Lawyers
Registration has opened for an upcoming ABA meeting that will urge big legal employers to promote diversity hiring, especially toward lawyers with disabilities. The meeting will be held June 15-16. CLE certification is pending.
Celebrate Pro Bono
The ABA encourages bar associations to sponsor a legal clinic or information session at a library to commemorate National Pro Bono Celebration Week, October 25-31.
The Economy's Effect on Bars Like Yours
A survey on the economy's effect on bar associations leads a new DBS Web page on economic recovery. The page also examines the economy's effect on IOLTA, how bars are helping overcome the foreclosure crisis, and notes bar Web pages for members on the economy.

The DBS page complements the ABA's economic recovery page, which helps lawyers recover from the financial crisis professionally and personally.

The ABA's Legal Services Web site now features select bar journal articles on legal services for the middle class.

Free Webcast on Adult Guardianship Jurisdiction
The ABA Commission on Law and Aging has released a free one-hour Webcast on adult guardianship jurisdiction. The Webcast is entitled "Why States Should Enact the Uniform Adult Guardianship and Protective Proceedings Jurisdiction Act."

YLD Wants a Few Good Delegates
The ABA's Young Lawyers Division is looking for delegates to attend the meeting of its policy-making Assembly, to be held at the ABA's upcoming Annual Meeting in Chicago. Delegate names are due May 15.

Nominations are open for the 2009 Law Day Awards. Nominations are due June 12.

The nomination period is open for the ABA's Alexander Award, which recognizes pipeline work by an individual or organization. The nomination deadline is October 1.

Nominations are open for the 2009 YLD Awards of Achievement. The awards recognize programs that improve the profession and society. Nominations are due June 15.
