Video Highlights: Air Force Special Victims' Counsel gives victims a voice

By John Glynn

Col. Dawn D. Hankins, chief of the Air Force Special Victims' Counsel Division, says there are 26,000 sexual assaults reported in the military, yet the number of prosecutions is minimal. The hope behind the SVC program is that more victims will report crimes if the allegations are handled by an independent entity outside of the chain of command.

Hankins spoke during the ABA Solo, Small Firm and General Practice Division panel, "Air Force Special Victims' Counsel Program: One Year Later," on Feb. 8 at the 2014 ABA Midyear Meeting in Chicago. This video presents highlights from the discussion.
