The American Bar Association Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section (TIPS) is honoring attorney Thomas Anderson of Indio, Calif., with its Pursuit of Justice Award, which recognizes lawyers and judges who have shown outstanding merit and who excel in providing access to justice for all.

“Tom Anderson seems to make just about everyone’s list as one of the best trial lawyers in America ever to set foot in a courtroom,” said Fletcher D. Handley Jr., chair of the TIPS Plaintiffs’ Policy Task Force, who will present the award on behalf of TIPS. “We are honored to recognize his many years of achievement with the Pursuit of Justice Award.”

The award will be presented to Anderson during the TIPS Welcome, Diversity and Pursuit of Justice Award Reception Oct.11 at the TIPS Fall Leadership Meeting in La Quinta, Calif.

In addition, Anderson was a commissioned officer in the U.S. Air Force and served as an agent in the Office of Special Investigations (OSI) from 1951 through 1953.

Since 1989, he has been a member of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, which limits membership to the top 500 trial attorneys in the world. He has also been a member of the Inner Circle of Advocates, which is limited to the top 100 personal injury attorneys in the United States, since 1985. He has been selected by his peers to be included in The Best Trial Lawyers in America for the last 12 years. Anderson received the Marvin E. Lewis Award from the Consumer Trial Lawyer Association for his many years of service as a trial attorney. In addition, he has held an AV Rating in Martindale-Hubbell, a national listing of attorneys, for many years.

Anderson has also authored and co-authored numerous writings relating to the practice of law, including the Association of Trial Lawyers of America Basic Advocacy Manual.

He is a founder and past president of the California Trial Lawyers Association, now known as the Consumer Attorneys of California (CAOC), which is the largest and most influential plaintiff attorney group in California. Anderson is also a fellow in the International Society of Barristers and is listed in the Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers.
