Lawyers Critical to Recovery, Says Trafficking Victim

By Daniel Buchanan

“Angelina,” a trafficking victim, shares how she was fortunate to find savvy lawyers to help her situation. Also featured is supervising pro bono lawyer Lori L. Cohen of Sanctuary For Families.

In an effort to build awareness of the problem, the ABA Task Force on Human Trafficking, is marshaling the expertise of legal experts around the country who have first-hand experience with victims.

According to the U.S. State Department, up to 21 million people worldwide—more than half of them women—are victims of labor or sex trafficking. In the U.S., it’s estimated that up to 250,000 children—ages 10-17—are exploited in the commercial sex industry.
