- About Us
Memorial Day offers a special moment for Americans to honor the dedication of our women and men in military uniform and to reflect on the sacrifices they have made over generations to protect our liberty and freedoms.
The ABA is focused on assisting our servicemen and women and veterans to navigate many challenges. The ABA Military Pro Bono Project places pro bono cases with volunteer attorneys who provide free, high-quality legal assistance to junior enlisted active-duty servicemembers and their families on issues related to family law, consumer law, landlord-tenant disputes and other civil matters.
Sadly, more than 100,000 war veterans are among the nation’s homeless. With ABA support, many receive assistance through homeless courts. These homeless courts expand access to justice, reduce court costs and help homeless veterans and others reintegrate into society and lead productive lives.
We owe a debt of gratitude to our men and women in the military who paid the ultimate sacrifice protecting the nation’s freedoms. And we give our thanks to veterans who served and those in uniform who continue their selfless work. In the spirit of Memorial Day, the American Bar Association urges lawyers to reflect on those who have sacrificed for us and continue to support our veterans in the year ahead.
