With more than a decade of active membership in the forum, Dekom has dedicated a significant amount of volunteer time and service as the chair of the Motion Pictures, Television, Cable and Radio Division, as a member of the governing committee and now as the chair of Special Projects.
The Beverly Hills and Century City Bar Associations have recognized Dekom as the “Entertainment Lawyer of the Year.” He has been listed in Forbes magazine as one of America’s top 100 lawyers, and his clients are a who’s who of talent and financial power players in the entertainment industry.
Dick Cook, CEO of the Cook Company LLC and former Walt Disney Studios chairman, and Christine Lepera, chair of the forum, will present the Ed Rubin Award to Dekom.
Ed Rubin was the first chair of the Forum on the Entertainment and Sports Industries and a proponent of collegial and professional association among entertainment lawyers. This was a feat, as entertainment law practitioners of the 1970s and 1980s were not predisposed to sharing information. Rubin was a dedicated forum member whose service to the forum was integral to its mission. He is widely and affectionately remembered as the force and passion behind the establishment of the forum. He was a partner at Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp LLP.
The forum has presented this award annually since 2004. Past recipients have included Jay Cooper, Michael Rudell, Joel A. Katz, Pamela R. Lester and Edward Pierson.
