Resolutions for Debate
The Assembly also extends thanks to the YLD delegates who debated resolutions, and those who submitted YL resolutions for the Assembly's consideration, including: Chris Fortier; Ryan Blay; Michael Bergmann; Regine Francois; Daniel Thies; Joshua Roman; Andrea Ciobanu.
CLE Model Rule Resolution: This resolution urges the Standing Committee on Continuing Legal Education (SCOCLE) to amend the Model Rule for Continuing Legal Education (MRCLE) to include requirements for new lawyer training focusing on practice skills, the business of law, career development, and health issues.
In-House Counsel Pro Bono Resolution: This resolution encourages all state and territorial-barring jurisdictions to enact rules that would permit in-house attorneys to practice law in pro bono matters in the jurisdiction where they work without being licensed to practice law in that particular jurisdiction.
Law School Accountability Resolution: This resolution asks Congress and the US Department of Education to establish various benchmarks to (1) slow the increase in law school tuition; (2) limit the debt burden of law school graduates; (3) enhance access to the legal profession, particularly for minorities and traditionally disadvantaged groups; and (4) better equip lawyers to provide quality legal services to the public.
Veterans Law Institutes/Clinics Resolution: This resolution encourages all American law schools to create Veteran Law Institutes/Clinics to assist veterans with their legal needs.
All resolutions on the consent calendar were adopted by the YLD Assembly except for 110 (which was withdrawn from the Consent Calendar and whose sponsors withdrew their request for support). The ABA House of Delegates (HOD) voted on the HOD resolutions during its Midyear Meeting session, and all resolutions on the YLD consent calendar were adopted by the ABA HOD. Adopts the black letter ABA Model Business and Supplier Policies on Labor Trafficking and Child Labor

Urges adoption of laws and policies to prevent acts of violence related to the justice system

Urges promotion of human right to adequate food and nutrition

Urges Congress to enact The Access to Medicare Coverage Act of 2013 or similar legislation

Delegate Certification: Make sure your state, national affiliate or military branch is fully represented:
May 1: deadline for local affiliates to submit delegate information to their state affiliate.
May 15: deadline for state affiliates, national affiliates and military affiliates to submit their delegate information to the ABA YLD via the online Delegate Certification Form.
Note: The following information is needed for each delegate: name, contact information including email address, ABA ID #, birth date, and whether he or she qualifies under ABA YLD bylaws or the organization’s bylaws.
