Campaigns and Elections 101 – Park Avenue Elementary School

On August 28, 2014 the Young Lawyers Conference of the Virginia State Bar and the Danville Law Day Committee are partnering to present “Campaigns and Elections 101” to four second grade classes at Park Avenue Elementary School in Danville, Virginia.  The classes will read “Today on Election Day” by Catherine Stier, learn about our country’s democratic system, and participate in a special mock election exercise.

Why Every Vote Matters – Jefferson School City Center, Charlottesville

On May 7, 2014 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the Jefferson School City Center in Charlottesville, Virginia the Young Lawyers Conference of the Virginia State Bar and the University of Virginia Center for Politics will partner to present “Why Every Vote Matters.”  The promotional flyer for the program is attached.  Special invited speakers are Mr. Alex-Zan, Ms. Carol Johnson, and Mr. Eugene Williams.  Topics of discussion will include:  voting history in Charlottesville, reinstating voting rights, the importance of voting, and understanding voting.  The event is free and open to the public.  Refreshments will be served.  For more information, please contact David Irvine at david.irvine@tremblaysmith.com.
