I admire the lawyers that zealously advocate for their clients with passion, integrity, humility, and forethought. I have greater admiration for judges and attorneys that use their legal training and experience to pursue their passion for the betterment of society.  Judge Arlander Keys embodied these traits and established a standard of excellence that will stay with me throughout my life. Although I enhanced the essential skills related to discerning facts, researching, identifying issues, and applying the law, I ultimately found that lawyers, as the pillars in our community, have a commitment to ensure the next generation of lawyers reflect our diverse society.

Judge Keys encouraged and allowed me to participate in the Just the Beginning Foundation—A Pipeline Organization Summer Legal Institute as a facilitator to high school students interested in the legal profession while fulfilling my clerkship responsibilities.  My combined experience, which in no way diminished my substantive experience, help anchor my commitment to the responsibilities lawyers have in our world.

Today, I embody the tradition of excellence, professionalism, and commitment to service that I admired as a JIOP extern.
