Information for Authors

The International Lawyer welcomes the submission of original articles, comments, and notes. The International Lawyer does not accept unsolicited student-written submissions nor does it consider articles or reports that have been or are to be published elsewhere.

We accept submissions on a rolling basis. Submissions must not exceed 10,000 words, including footnotes. Footnotes must conform with The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (most recent edition), and authors should be prepared to provide any cited sources upon request. In addition to the manuscript, authors must include a resume or CV, which includes a list of current publications.

All article submissions must be sent in an electronic Word format to or mail a hard copy with an electronic Word-formatted copy of the article to:

Southern Methodist University
Dedman School of Law

Manuscripts receive peer review, which usually takes three to four weeks. Once an article has been selected for publication, the Editor-in-Chief will contact the author with further information on the publication process. The author should expect to work closely with the Managing Editor during the editorial process prior to the article's final publication. Publication is normally nine to twelve months after a manuscript is accepted. The editors of The International Lawyer reserve the right to move an accepted manuscript from the committed issue to a later issue.
