About the Program

In recent years, hospital and health care professionals have increasingly reported nationwide shortages of prescription drugs, including those that are life-saving and life-sustaining.  Drug shortages directly threaten public health by preventing patients from accessing medications that are essential to their care.    The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) – an agency responsible for overseeing the safety and effectiveness of drugs marketed in the United States – has recognized the significant public health consequences that can result from drug shortages.  According to the FDA, a record number of drugs were in short supply in recent years.  Our experienced and diverse expert panel will provide attendees coverage on the following subjects:

  • Overview of current class-wide shortages in the industry
  • Underlying factors associated with the shortages
  • Methods available to track these shortages
  • Describing proactive ways to deal with current shortages
  • Keys to developing solid polices and plans to avoid future shortage
  • Related legal concerns and/or issues.
