Program Overview:
The panel discussion will provide an overview of the current state of play in the U.S. market for sustainability in business and industry. Building on moderator Ira Feldman's business and industry chapter in John Dernbach's "Agenda for a Sustainable America," published last year by ELI, the panel will introduce sustainability concepts and principles; provide examples of leading corporate sustainability initiatives and emerging trends; and explore the relative significance of various regulatory, voluntary and financial sector drivers for "triple bottom line" thinking. Geared especially to inform practicing environmental lawyers, the invited panelists represent three key perspectives on sustainability -- corporate, NGO, and financial sector. Ken Strassner led Kimberly-Clark's sustainability efforts and he now chairs "Competing on Sustainability," an industry working group convened by the AHC Group to identify sustainability best practices. Michael Muyot leads CRD Analytics, a Wall Street firm that partners with NASDAQ, JustMeans, and other organizations to analyze corporate sustainability disclosure and performance. Chris Davis, formerly partner at the Goodwin Proctor law firm, is now Director of Investment Programs for Ceres, a leading not-for-profit championing sustainability in the corporate and financial worlds.
