The three year period of this strategic plan will be a time of assessing and deepening the Commission's approach to its work. Concurrently the Commission will take more of a leadership role in working with a broader array of resources/entities and it will explore engaging more members in its work. With a fresh perspective on its mission and what it does well, and the environment in which it operates, the Commission will purse the following goals:

1. Take concrete actions to promote the hiring, recruitment, promotion and advancement of diverse lawyers and diverse law students and graduates;
2. Take specific actions to increase opportunities for diverse lawyers to serve as federal and state judges and encourage federal and state judges to increase their efforts to indentify and hire diverse law clerks;
3. Maintain cooperative working relationships with national, state and local traditional and diverse bar associations to provide joint programs and projects designed to provide increased and equal professional and practice opportunities to diverse lawyers;
4. Work to ensure equal membership and employment opportunities for diverse lawyers and law students in the American Bar Association and full and equal opportunities for participation in the Association's governance and structure;
5. To recognize and celebrate the advances made by minority lawyers; and
6. To facilitate interaction between minority lawyers across the nation through networking and increased communication.
