About the Diverse Speakers Directory
The American Bar Association Diverse Speakers Directory is a national clearinghouse of experts with an interest in speaking and moderating opportunities with the American Bar Association. Access the directory at www.ambar.org/DiverseSpeakers
Why a Diverse Speakers Directory?
The Directory was developed in response to repeated requests from ABA entities and external organizations for diverse legal experts across a broad spectrum of expertise. Based on the speaker database originally developed by the ABA Section of Real Property, Trust and Estate Law, the Diverse Speakers Directory is a resource for program organizers throughout the ABA and legal experts in all areas of practice.
Everyone is Welcome to Create a Profile
The ABA Diverse Speakers Directory is a centralized database of legal experts who self-identify their status from a race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation/gender identity, and disability perspective; thus creating a comprehensive and convenient database of diverse candidates. All candidates are welcome. We encourage participants to create a complete profile with detailed information about your legal and professional expertise as well as your demographic data. This will help program organizers and meeting planners to identify and include panelists and moderators that are representative of the constituencies that they serve as well as the legal profession. Complete profiles receive full consideration.
We strongly suggest that you download the brief, illustrated guide to Searching, Creating, Accessing and Updating Profiles in the ABA Diverse Speakers Directory to quickly get you started. The Guide familiarizes you with the steps necessary to navigate the Directory’s proprietary system and facilitates creating or updating a profile.
Information to have on hand when creating/updating your Directory profile at www.ambar.org/DiverseSpeakers:
- Two previous speaking engagements (including year, city, state, topic) *required
- Information to check all relevant Areas of Expertise (i.e., Ethics & Professional Resp. and use profile keywords)
- While a photo isn’t required, it is strongly encouraged; according a recent Forbes.com blog: “You’re seven times more likely to have your profile viewed if you have a photo.”
