The Section is currently seeking applicants for the Fellows, Ambassadors, Envoys and Diplomats Programs. All four programs are designed to involve underrepresented groups in the substantive work of the Section and to springboard participants into leadership roles. Each year, the Section funds five Fellows, five Ambassadors and five Envoys for two-year terms to participate in three Section meetings each year (Spring Meeting, Annual Meeting and a stand-alone committee meeting). Every other year, one Diplomat is selected to participate in the program. Program participants are assigned mentors from their Committees of interest and from the Leadership Diversity Outreach Committee, and are provided special guidance on getting involved in the leadership of the Section.
Applications for each program can be downloaded from the specific program websites and are due on April 4.
Descriptions of each group are the following:
- Fellows: ABA Young Lawyers Division members who practice business law and hope to expand their participation to the Business Law Section.
- Ambassadors: Lawyers of color who practice business law and belong to an organization or association for lawyers of color.
- Envoys: LGBT lawyers who practice business law and are active in a bar organization for LGBT lawyers.
- Diplomats: Lawyers with disabilities who practice business law and participate in an organization for lawyers with disabilities.
