Monday Morning/Day

March 24, 2014
For those being admitted with the first group.

7:00 AM: Arrive at the Supreme Court for group and individual photos. Meet in front of the Court at the corner of First and Maryland. In the case of inclement weather, we will take the photos indoors in front of the John Marshall statue.

7:45 AM: We will enter the Court and proceed through a security checkpoint. After the entire group has passed through security, the police will escort our entire group to the private dining area.

8:15 AM: Reception in a private room in a secured area of the Court. Our professional photographer will be taking both posed and candid photos.

Breakfast buffet includes:

Chilled fresh orange, grapefruit, and cranberry juices
Assorted fresh baked breakfast pastries and muffins
Assorted mini-bagels with cream cheese and fruit preserves
Seasonal fresh fruit platter

9:15 AM: Orientation provided to the group by Supreme Court Chief Clerk Gen. William Suter

9:20 AM: Attorney applicants and guests will be ushered into Courtroom

10:00 AM: Swearing in ceremony before the Supreme Court sitting en banc. Oath administered by the Chief Justice. Oral arguments before the Court sitting en banc follow for those who wish to stay. See note below.

11:45 AM: Lunch buffet inside the Supreme Court

1:00 PM – 2:15 PM (approx): VIP tour of the Library of Congress’ Thomas Jefferson Building led by a professionally trained Library docent. This building is recognized by many as being the most beautiful building in Washington.

2:30 - 4:00 PM - Walk the tunnel to the new US Capitol Visitors' Center. Guided tour provided by the Office of the Architect of the Capitol. The tour begins with a 13-minute film, "Out of Many, One," which will take you on a journey through our country's struggle to establish the world's first truly representative democracy and introduce you to the magnificent building that houses our Congress.

Monday Evening

March 24, 2014
For both the Monday and the Tuesday groups.

6:00 PM: Gourmet reception and sit-down dinner at The Monocle on Capitol Hill. A professional photographer will be present taking candid photos throughout the evening.

Open bar from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM

Dinner includes:

Fresh chilled Paradise Salad
Your choice of:
- Roasted Beef Tenderloin with red wine sauce, wild mushrooms, potatoes and fresh seasonal vegetables
- Wellington Farms Chicken Breast Grilled with lemon herbs and olive oil, served with potatoes and fresh seasonal vegetables
- Norwegian Salmon with Lump Crab Meat served with Chardonnay sauce, potatoes and fresh seasonal vegetables

Tuesday Morning/Day

March 25, 2014
For those being admitted with the second group.

7:30 AM - 4:00 PM: Please see schedule for Monday.

NOTE: Everyone in the Tuesday group is welcome to join the afternoon tours on Monday instead of Tuesday if that will work better with your schedule.

Oral Arguments

After the admissions ceremony, the Court hears oral arguments for two cases. You and your guest(s) may stay for one or both of the oral arguments set for the day of your swearing-in. The argument calendar is set to be released by the end of this year.

Number of Guests

Due to the small size of the Courtroom, the official rule is that each applicant is allowed one guest for the swearing-in and the oral arguments. Historically, however, we've been able to get extra guests into the Courtroom but that doesn't guarantee that we can get in extra people on the days we are there. Children under 6 may not be admitted into the Courtroom.

Note: The itinerary above is subject to change. The Marshal's Office and the Capitol Police as well as other agencies can make changes that may affect us without any prior notice.
