Letter from 2012-2013 Section Chair Tina Portuondo

Dear Colleagues:

It is an honor to serve as Chair of the ABA’s Real Property, Trust & Estate Law Section for the 2012-2013 Bar year.  I want to thank you for your membership in the Section, and hope that you will take advantage of all of the benefits that Section membership has to offer.

As a RPTE member you are entitled to receive complimentary copies of  Section publications–including Probate & Property magazine, the e-Report and the RPTE Journal–whichprovide current information on the latest legal and practice area developments.  Section members are also entitled to discounts on our outstanding publications and CLE programs, including frequent CLE teleconferences and live in-person meetings.  I invite you to attend our flagship CLE program, the 24th Annual Spring Symposia, scheduled for May 2-3, 2013 in Washington, D.C., which will feature some of the nation’s leading experts on real property and estate planning issues.

In addition to taking advantage of these benefits, I hope that you will take the opportunity to further enhance the value of your membership by joining one of the Section’s more than 70 active substantive committees.   The substantive groups and committees hold monthly conference calls that are available free of charge, and that can serve as a valuable resource for all Section members.  The calls provide information on legal and planning developments, facilitate networking with top practitioners from around the country, and expose Section members to the important work that occurs at the committee level.  You can find information on currently scheduled calls, as well as learn more about joining a committee, on the Section’s website at: www.ambar.org/rpte

Thank you again for your membership in the Real Property, Trust & Estate Law Section.  I look forward to the year ahead, and can assure you that RPTE’s leadership continues its commitment to delivering real value to its members.

Sincerely,

Tina Portuondo
Chair, Section of Real Property, Trust and Estate Law
