A Message from Alan F. Rothschild, Jr., New Section Chair

It is an honor to serve as Chair of the Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Section for the 2010-2011 bar year.  Thanks to the leadership of immediate past chair Roger Winston, past and present Finance Officers Gideon Rothschild and Jo Ann Engelhardt, staff director Robin Roy, and all of our other Section leaders and staff. The Section is in a strong financial position, membership is stable and our groups and committees are growing and developing even more creative ways to serve our Section’s almost 30,000 members.

Our Section leaders and staff work very hard to provide our members with the most current and useful information on legal developments and practice tips in the real property and trust and estate areas.  We sincerely hope you take full advantage of your membership privileges in the Section, including our publications, Probate & Property, the eReport and the RPTE Journal , and our monthly practice group conference calls.  The Section has over 70 substantive law committees that provide a unique venue for brainstorming and networking with leading practitioners across the country.  I also hope you will mark your calendar and start planning to attend our Annual Spring Symposia, April 28-29, 2011 in Washington, D.C.

While these are challenging times for our profession, both the ABA and the RPTE Section are committed to providing the services and benefits to our members to help you not only survive, but strengthen and prosper, during these times.

In addition to enjoying the content of this issue of the eReport, please visit the RPTE website at http://americanbar.org/groups/real_property_trust_estate.html for even more information and opportunities to be involved and engaged in your Section.

Sincerely,

Alan F. Rothschild, Jr.
