GPSolo Magazine Honored
Trade, Association and Business Publications International has recognized GPSolo magazine with a 2010 Tabbie Awards Honorable Mention in the category of Best Single Issue for “Bumps in the Road IV” (October/November 2009), which addressed the mental health, substance abuse, and quality-of-life challenges confronted all too frequently by lawyers (check out the full contents for yourself at www.abanet.org/genpractice/magazine/2009/octnov). Now in its seventh year, the Tabbie Awards competition recognizes editorial and design excellence among trade, association, and business periodicals worldwide. The 2010 Tabbie Awards featured nearly 500 entries, with nominations coming from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, India, New Zealand, and South Africa. Congratulations to “Bumps in the Road IV” issue editor James Schwartz, 2009–2010 editor-in-chief Joan M. Burda, and all the issue’s contributors for this well-deserved honor.
ABA Smart Soloing Center Is Launched
It’s an idea years in the making that is finally coming to fruition. The ABA’s Interactive Services Department—with help from the GPSolo Division’s Solo Center Task Force chaired by Jeffrey Allen—has created a new online feature for sole practitioners called the Smart Soloing Center ( www.abanet.org/solos). Launched shortly prior to the ABA Annual Meeting, the Smart Soloing Center aggregates the ABA’s array of resources for solos, highlights news of interest to solos, and provides helpful links to resources outside the ABA. Interactive Services is working with GPSolo, the Membership and Marketing Department, ABA Publishing, and entities across the ABA to keep the content current. So drop by the Smart Soloing Center—you’re sure to find something of value.
