The Midwinter Meeting in Los Cabos provides a welcome escape from the neverending polar vortex. As usual, the agenda and events combine the opportunity to hear the latest developments in the casual, collegial setting that is the hallmark of our committee.
In this edition of the newsletter, we have predictions on the emerging trends for 2014. Supervisor liability under the FMLA is reviewed. Joe Golden and Dick Moon offer their recollections of the early days of the committee.
A number of committee members have blogs. We would invite you to send us a link so we can have a link on the committee home page to committee member blogs. We also need articles; if you have just had an interesting issue in a case or want to comment on developments, take five minutes and do it. Articles can be any length.
FROM THE CO-CHAIRS
Welcome to a new edition of ERR's e-zine! We greatly appreciate the efforts of Tiffanie Benfer and John Holmquist in revitalizing our Committee's e-newsletter. We hope that the e-zine will continue to provide a forum for news and suggestions. We encourage all ERR members to reach out to Tiffanie and John about ways they can contribute to this important Committee publication.
It was terrific to see so many of our ERR friends and colleagues at the 7th Annual Labor and Employment Law Conference in New Orleans this past November. ERR members were well-represented among the Conference speakers, and we are especially proud of our fellow members Julie Totten and George Washington, who were Co-Chairs of the Conference. Our Committee's booth at the Wednesday night Welcome Reception proved to be a popular gathering spot, and we were glad to see that all enjoyed wearing our flashing hot pepper pins, signifying the Mexican location of our Midwinter Meeting. We would also like to give a big thank you to ERR member Mark Mallery, who hosted a wonderful reception for ERR members at his New Orleans home.
We look forward to seeing many of you next week at our Midwinter Meeting in Los Cabos. We will have four days of substantive programs covering the breadth and depth of important labor and employment law developments. In addition, please be sure to attend our annual Diversity Reception on Wednesday, March 19, the Subcommittee Lunch on Thursday, March 20, where the planning for the 2015 Midwinter Meeting begins, and the Dine-Around on Thursday, March 20, where can you dine with colleagues and friends while enjoying local cuisine. As always, during the Meeting and afterwards, please share your comments and suggestions with any of us in leadership, so that we can continue to improve the Midwinter Meeting programs and experience.
We look forward to seeing you in Los Cabos!
