Women in the Profession

The mission of the American Bar Association Commission on Women in the Profession is to secure full and equal participation of women in the ABA, the profession and the justice system.

Guided Conversations: Highlighting Experiences of Intersectionality - March 20th, 3 p.m. ET

In honor of Women’s History Month and promoting allyship in the legal profession, the Commission is hosting a day of conversation to convene highly accomplished women to share their experiences. This virtual program will feature women lawyers of diverse demographic backgrounds and legal specialties in a 60-minute discussion moderated by former CWP Chair Michele Coleman Mayes, followed by a 30-minute Q&A portion.

The Commission on Women in the Profession comprises of twelve members appointed by the ABA President. Its mission is to secure the full and equal participation of women in the ABA, the legal profession, and the justice system.

RESOLUTIONS

The Commission on Women in the Profession introduces Resolutions to the ABA House of Delegates that promote the rights of women in the legal profession.

Resolution 501

The Commission is proud to have co-sponsored Resolution 501, adopted by the ABA House of Delegates at its Midyear Meeting, which urges bar admissions authorities, law schools, bar associations, and legal employers to adopt clear and uniform policies allowing for accommodations for lactating individuals.
