ABA commemorates Magna Carta’s 800th anniversary

Historians and ABA leaders discuss the Magna Carta’s enduring legacy and the ABA’s plans to honor the 800th anniversary of the sealing of the great charter in 1215. The video was developed to recognize the ABA’s anniversary celebration June 11-14, 2015, in the United Kingdom, where the association erected a memorial to Magna Carta in 1957.

Chief Justice of the United States John G. Roberts Jr. will launch the ABA’s year-long Magna Carta anniversary celebration with a speech to the House of Delegates at the Annual Meeting in Boston Monday, Aug. 11, 2014 at 11 a.m. 

In this video, he discusses the importance of Magna Carta as the foundation for many core concepts of American laws and freedoms and describes some American Bar Associations activities to honor the historic document on the occasion of its 800th anniversary.
