ABA 2014 ANNUAL MEETING REGISTRATION SWEEPSTAKES

Description: To encourage registration  for the 2014 Annual Meeting in Boston, Massachusetts, the ABA will offer two sweepstakes. Eligible participants will be entered into a random drawing to win accommodations and airline  travel to one of two  destinations.  In the first  sweepstakes, the destination will  be Bangkok, Thailand; in the second sweepstakes, the destination  w ill be Athens, Greece. By entering, all participants agree to these Official Rules.

Eligibility:  First Sweepstakes-  Those who  register for the ABA 2014 Annual Meeting  between  March  3 through 5pm CST March 31, 2014, or who enter by alternate entry, will be entered into the first sweepstakes. Second Sweepstakes- Those who register for the 2014 ABA Annual Meeting by 5pm CST on Monday, June 16, 2014 or who entered but did not win the first sweepstakes, or who enter by alternate  entry,  will be entered  into  the  second sweepstakes.  Alternate  Entry - ABA members  who  wish to  participate  in the drawing but do not wish to register for the ABA 2014 Annual Meeting may enter by mailing a 3x5 card with name, address, telephone  and current  email address to:  ABA Meetings and Travel Department, 2014 Annual Meeting Sweepstakes, 321 N. Clark St., Chicago, IL 60654. Alternate entries must be received no later than 5pm CST March  31, 2014  (for  the  first  sweepstake) and  no  later  than  5pm  CST  June  16 , 2014 for the Second Sweepstakes.

 

Entrants must be legal residents of the US and be over the age of 18 or the age of majority.   Officers, Directors, and employees of the ABA and its related organizations and their immediate  family or household members are not eligible to enter or win. Void where prohibited by law.

 

Prizes: First Sweepstakes- One winner will be chosen in a random drawing of eligible participants and will receive a certificate for a three-night stay at the St. Regis, Bangkok, Thailand and two (2) roundtrip airline certificates valid on United Airlines for travel to Bangkok. Second Sweepstakes- One winner will be chosen in a random drawing of eligible participants and will receive a certificate for a three-night stay at Hotel Grand Bretagne in Athens, Greece in deluxe room accommodations, including breakfast for two guests daily, and two roundtrip economy airline certificates valid for travel to Athens, Greece on Delta Airlines.

 

Hotel and airline certificates are subject to availability.  Winner must complete travel arrangements directly with airline; taxes, surcharges and other fees may apply when making airfare reservation.    Certificates cannot be sold and/or transferred; prize certificates have no cash value.   Airline certificates are subject to carrier restrictions and booking fees. Flights must originate in U.S., Canada or Mexico.  Hotel stay may be extended by utilizing the applicable negotiated ABA Preferred Rate at the St. Regis, Bangkok or Hotel Grand Bretagne Athens based on room type availability and blackout dates at the time of booking.  Hotel certificates will expire December 31, 2014.   Certificate expiration dates cannot be extended. Drawing Dates and Notification of Winners:  One Winner will be selected in a random drawing on Friday, April 4, 2014 (for the First Sweepstakes) and another on Friday, June 20, 2014 (for the Second Sweepstakes). The ABA will attempt to notify the winner(s) within 24 hours of each drawing by email, phone or mail, in that order, using the contact information  provided in the entry.  If a potential winner cannot be contacted, the notification  as returned  as undeliverable, or the potential winner does not respond within  five (5) business days from  the date the ABA first attempts  notification, such potential  winner forfeits  all rights to win the promotion  or receive the prize, and an alternate  winner will be selected by random.  To obtain the name of the winner, please call the ABA Meetings and Travel Department at 800-245-0602.

 

Prizes are nontransferable  and cash equivalency for prizes is not  available.  Odds of  winning  either  prize depend on the number  of eligible entries received; however, odds of winning either prize are estimated at

1/5000.

 

Taxes and Other Requirements.  Winner is responsible for all taxes associated with receiving the prize. The fair market  value of the  prize must  be included in the  recipient's  income.  The fair market  value of the Bangkok trip is estimated at $3,000; the fair market value of the Athens trip is estimated at $3,600. Prior to receiving the prize, winners  will be required to submit a completed W-9, and the fair market value of the

prize will be reported on a 1099 tax form.

 

Release: By participating, each  entrant  agrees to these Official Rules and the decisions of the Sponsor and releases and discharges the ABA, its subsidiary and affiliated entities, and each of their respective officers, directors, members, employees, independent contractors, agents, representatives, successors and assigns (collectively  "Sponsor'') from  any and all liability  whatsoever in connection  with  this promotion, including without  limitation legal claims, cost, injuries, losses or damages, demands or actions of any kind (including without  limitation  personal injuries, death, damage to, loss or destruction of property, rights of publicity  or privacy, defamation or portrayal in a false light) (collectively "Claims").  Except where prohibited, acceptance of a prize constitutes a release by any winner  of the Sponsor of any and all Claims in connection  with the administration  of this promotion  and the use, misuse or possession of any prize.  All entries  become the property of Sponsor and will  not  be acknowledged or  returned.   The Sponsor is not  responsible for lost, incomplete,   malfunctioning  entries  or  failed  computer  transmissions.  Sponsor may  cancel,  modify  or terminate  the promotion  if it is not capable of completion  as planned, including by reason of infection  by computer virus, tampering, unauthorized intervention,  force majeure or technical difficulties of any kind.
