United Arab Emirates (UAE) Background

The ABA Rule of Law Initiative (ABA ROLI) has been active in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) since 2008.

Through funding and support from the U.S. Department of State’s Middle East Partnership Initiative, ABA ROLI has been working in partnership with the Ministry of Justice and the Institute of Training and Judicial Studies to implement a variety of regional workshops and conferences, which are part of ABA ROLI efforts to strengthen professional legal education. Conference and workshop topics have included judicial education, best practices in continuing legal education (CLE) and judicial ethics.

In addition to hosting events in the UAE, ABA ROLI has also supported participation of UAE professionals in regional CLE events elsewhere. In the coming year, ABA ROLI will continue its support for a series of CLE workshops.
