In early November 2009, the ABA Rule of Law Initiative (ABA ROLI) sponsoreda workshop on teaching methodology for judicial educators in Bahrain.
James Buchanan, an education specialist at the U.S. Federal Court’s JudicialCenter, who has extensive experience working with international judges, led theworkshop. The Judicial and Legal Studies Institute’s (JLSI’s) trainers attendedthe workshop, which featured discussions and practical exercises, including ondeveloping and implementing an instructional system design. Activities included discussing case studies and role playing.
Following the workshop, Buchanan met with Dr. Mostafa Abdel Ghaffar, JLSIdirector, and JLSI management. They discussed management of judicial institutes and shared ideas on making the JLSI more effective.
ABA ROLI has been assisting the JLSI with efforts to strengthen its judicial education program.
