- Program Expands Training Opportunities for Practicing Algerian Lawyers
In spring 2011, the ABA Rule of Law Initiative (ABA ROLI), with support from the U.S. Department of State’s Office of Middle East Partnership Initiatives, collaborated with bar associations throughout Algeria and the magistrate’s institute to conduct a series of CLE workshops in Sidi Bel Abbes and Algiers.
- Law Firm Management Conferences for Algerian Lawyers
In December, more than 300 Algerian lawyers attended law firm management conferences held in the Algerian cities of Algiers and Sidi Bel Abbes.
- Young Lawyers in Algeria learn about International Law
In early February, ABA ROLI held the second training of a five part series
for its program in Algeria on promoting women’s rights through building the
capacity of young lawyers.
- Enhancing Judicial-Media Relations in Algeria
In collaboration with the Algerian judicial training institute (Supérieure de la Magistrature or ESM), the ABA supported the organization of series workshop for prosecutors, student judges, and sitting judges aimed at promoting judicial-media relations and improving public outreach in Algeria
- Algeria National Judicial Institute Pilots E-Learning Course
- In October, the ABA Rule of Law Initiative (ABA ROLI) piloted an e-learning course on the Algerian Family Code for law students and experts at the national judicial training school, Ecole Supérieure de la Magistrature (ESM)
