From November 2006 through January 2007, the Rule of Law Initiative's Ukraine program conducted a series of institution building seminars in order to enhance the sustainability and institutional capacity of 20 of its local partners.
The first half of each seminar was dedicated to strategic project management, with the goal of helping local partners improve and evaluate the impact and effectiveness of their activities. The second half of the seminar focused on how to develop project evaluation criteria and tracking mechanisms in order to better monitor and assess their programs.
With the skills taught at the seminar by the Kyiv-based Institution Building Advisor, each local partner will hopefully devise its own performance monitoring plan that will help guide its future activities. In the coming six months, the Ukraine program plans to conduct follow-up meetings with its partners in order to discuss their progress in implementing their performance monitoring plans.
