As the most marginalized group in Europe, the Roma face widespread and deeply ingrained social and institutional discrimination. In October 2010, the ABA Rule of Law Initiative (ABA ROLI) launched a regional program to provide access to justice to Roma communities in Bulgaria, Macedonia, Romania and Serbia. The program partners with local non-governmental organizations and advocacy groups and supports advocacy initiatives among those communities. The program is supported by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor.
