Roma Regional Program Background

As the most marginalized group in Europe, the Roma face widespread and deeply ingrained social and institutional discrimination. From July 2010 to February 2014, the ABA Rule of Law Initiative (ABA ROLI) implemented a regional program to provide access to justice to Roma communities in Bulgaria, Kosovo, Macedonia, Romania and Serbia. We partnered with local non-governmental organizations and advocacy groups and supported advocacy initiatives among those communities. The program was supported by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor.
