On October 16, 150 Armenian lawyers who passed the country’s first computerized bar exam in August were sworn-in as members of the Chamber of Advocates. The exam was supported by the ABA Rule of Law Initiative (ABA ROLI).
The newly licensed lawyers took an oath in front of the chamber’s board to pledge allegiance to the Armenian constitution and the code of advocate conduct. Ruben Sahakyan, the chamber’s chairman, said the computerized bar exam was efficient, transparent and objective.
ABA ROLI’s legal profession reform program supports the creation of an independent and sustainable association of lawyers and encourages public advocacy initiatives. The program also strives to enhance lawyers’ professionalism and the resources available to them. The program is supported by the U.S. Agency for International Development.
