Pro Bono Expert Weighs in on His Experience in China

February 2009

During a December 2008 visit to China, the chair of the American Bar Association’s (ABA’s) Standing Committee on Pro Bono, Mark Schickman, offered his professional expertise and gained new insights about the Chinese legal community. In addition to taking part in a roundtable, hosted by the ABA Rule of Law Initiative (ABA ROLI), that allowed representatives from leading Chinese law firms to share their experiences in promoting various pro bono models, Mr. Schickman participated in a conference that looked to explore the future of volunteerism and pro bono.

In the latest issue of DIALOGUE, the newsletter of the ABA Division for Legal Services, Mr. Schickman offers his perspective of the trip and his work. You can access the article on pages 13 and 14 of the publication, available online at <http://www.abanet.org/legalservices/dialogue/downloads/dialwi09.pdf>.
