On April 21, the ABA Rule of Law Initiative (ABA ROLI) hosted a half-day conference on the future of the legal profession in Europe and Eurasia. Field-based ABA ROLI staff and speakers from U.S. government donor agencies, academia as well as United States- and Europe and Eurasia-based civil society organizations shared their perspectives on empowering a new generation of lawyers, promoting justice and protecting citizens’ rights. The conference, which was attended by about 60 people, had two sessions. During the first session, which focused on the empowerment of new generations of lawyers, panelists discussed how legal communities in Europe and Eurasia have changed during the past decade and what challenges they are likely to face in the next decade. During the second session, panelists highlighted the role of the justice system in advancing human rights. You can watch videos of the conference below.
